The bow tie quilt block originated around the turn of the 20th century, which means it looks great with some vintage print fabric or even modern print fabric. For each 9 inch block, you'll need three 5 inch colored squares and two 5 inch neutral or background fabric squares. To make a whole quilt out of these blocks, you could even reverse the color pattern for a truly unique bow tie quilt pattern.
