I have made a quilt exactly like this with the two rectangle squares. It's an easy and enjoyable pattern to make. I made one for a friend's son who is in the army. I did it with camo, browns, and greens for the fabrics. It was perfect for a soldier and I'm told he loved it. I also did a fleece backing so that it was warm and easy to launder.
