I just finished piecing my first butterfly block yesterday, I have not done the embroidery on it yet. All of the pieces fit together very well. I wanted a specific color in a pillow but like the block so much I think I will make more and do a quilt. Thanks for the great block!

I was trying to print of the templates. but can't do it. would love to try the pattern.

Hi yvonnesharpe 98693 08! If you follow the link above, you will be directed to the blogger's instructions. On that page there is a link to the printable block template. Hope that helps. Kaylee, Editor of FaveQuilts.com

I am the proud owner of a butterfly quilt, this pattern, made in the 1930s by my mom when she was 17 years old! The background of the butterfly blocks is mint green. The quilt has pink solid blocks alternating the butterfly blocks. The bodies are black and the wings are authentic 30s fabrics. It is beautifully handquilted. When in her 70s my mom made little quilts for my daughters using this pattern, alternating with Dresden plate blocks made by their other grandma. These are special family heirloom quilts!

I think I am going to try and make it.

it is so beautiful would look nice as a pillow top
