    This Paisley Patchwork Quilt from In The Beginning Fabrics highlights paisley fabrics and prints with whimsical frogs and turtles. This handmade paisley patchwork quilt is an adorable project to make for a little girl's bedroom. You can make this twin size quilt in a pink, brown, and green color scheme or a blue and green color scheme. The materials list is divided according to your fabric choices, but the pattern instructions apply to both color schemes.

    • Yardages are based on 40" fabric width.
    • Pattern uses fabric from In The Beginning Fabrics. Fabrics are coded in materials list.
       

    MATERIALS:

    Pink/Green Quilt:

    • 2-1/8 yds. Pink/Brown Paisley (2LP2) for blocks and outer border
    • 2/3 yd. each Pink Turtles (5LP2), Pink Frogs (4LP2), Orange Turtles (5LP3), and Orange Frogs (4LP3) for blocks (Yardage is generous to allow for selective cutting.)
    • 1/3 yd. each Pink/Green Spirals (7LP2), and Pink/Orange Spirals (7LP3) for blocks
    • 1/3 yd. Pink Small Flowers (6LP2) for blocks
    • 1/3 yd. Brown Small Flowers (6LP3) for blocks
    • 1/4 yd. Green/Brown Dots (9LP3) for blocks
    • 1/3 yd. Pink/Brown Dots (9LP2) for blocks and cornerstones
    • 1-1/8 yds. Green Tonal Dots (8LP4) for blocks and inner border
    • 1-5/8 yds. Pink Tonal Dots (8LP2) for sashing and binding
    • 5 yds. for backing (lengthwise seam)
       

    Blue/Green Quilt:

     

    • 2-1/3 yds. Blue/Brown Paisley (2LP1)for blocks and outer border
    • 2/3 yd. each Blue Turtles (5LP1), Blue Frogs (4LP1), Pink Turtles (5LP2), and Pink Frogs (4LP2) for blocks (Yardage is generous to allow for selective cutting.)
    • 1/2 yd. Blue Spirals (7LP1) for blocks
    • 1/3 yd. Blue Small Flowers (6LP1) for blocks
    • 1/3 yd. Brown Small Flowers (6LP3) for blocks
    • 1/4 yd. Green/Brown Dots (9LP3) for blocks
    • 1/3 yd. Blue/Brown Dots (9LP1) for blocks and cornerstones
    • 1-1/8 yds. Green Tonal Dots (8LP4) for blocks and inner border
    • 1-5/8 yds. Blue Tonal Dots (8LP1) for sashing and binding

    INSTRUCTIONS:

    Cutting:

    Notes:

    • One set of cutting instructions is given, to be used for either the Pink/Green Quilt or the Blue/Green Quilt.
    • Fabrics are cut in order given in the Materials lists.
    • Cut strips across width of fabric, unless otherwise instructed.

    From Paisley, cut in order given:

    • 4 strips, 6-1/2" x length of fabric, for outer border
    • 11 squares, 3-1/2" x 3-1/2", for blocks

    From assortment of four Turtle and Frog prints, selectively cut a total of:

    • 120 squares, 3-1/2" x 3-1/2", for blocks (Note: each block uses 4 matching turtle or frog squares.)

    From Spirals (you’ll have two Spiral prints for the Pink/ Green quilt, or one Spiral print for the Blue/Green quilt), cut a total of:

    • 26 squares, 3-7/8" x 3-7/8"; cut each square once diagonally to make 52 triangles for blocks

    From Pink Small Flowers (Pink/Green quilt) or Blue Small Flowers (Blue/Green quilt), cut:

    • 18 squares, 3-7/8" x 3-7/8"; cut each square once diagonally to make 36 triangles for blocks

    From Brown Small Flowers, cut:

    • 16 squares, 3-7/8" x 3-7/8"; cut each square once diagonally to make 32 triangles for blocks

    From Green/Brown Dots, cut:

    • 7 squares, 3-1/2" x 3-1/2", for blocks

    From Pink/Brown Dots (Pink/Green quilt) or Blue/Brown Dots (Blue/Green quilt), cut:

    • 12 squares, 3-1/2" x 3-1/2", for blocks
    • 42 squares, 1-1/2" x 1-1/2", for cornerstones

    From Green Tonal Dots, cut:

    • 6 strips, 1-1/2" x 40", for inner border
    • 60 squares, 3-7/8" x 3-7/8"; cut each square once diagonally to make 120 triangles for blocks

    From Pink Tonal Dots (Pink/Green quilt) or Blue Tonal Dots (Blue/Green quilt), cut:

    • 8 strips, 2-1/2" x 40", for double-fold binding
    • 71 rectangles, 1-1/2" x 9-1/2", for sashing
       

    Assembly:

    Notes: All seams ¼". Press seams in direction of arrows unless otherwise instructed. Assembly instructions are the same for both quilts.

    Paisley Patchwork Quilt

    1. Aſter studying photo for fabric placement, assemble 1 Block A as shown, using 4 Green Tonal Dots triangles, 4 assorted-print triangles, 4 Frog or Turtle 3-1/2" squares, and 1 assorted-print 3-1/2" square. Repeat to make a total of 15 of Block A.

    2. Using 4 Green Tonal Dots triangles, 4 assorted-print triangles, 4 Frog or Turtle 3-1/2" squares, and 1 assorted print 3-1/2" square, assemble 1 Block B as shown. Repeat to make a total of 15 of Block B.

    3. Using 3 of Block A, 2 of Block B, and 6 Tonal Dots 1-1/2" x 9-1/2" sashing rectangles, assemble a horizontal row as shown. Repeat to make a total of 3 rows.

    4. Using 2 of Block A, 3 of Block B, and 6 Tonal Dots 1-1/2" x 9-1/2" sashing rectangles, assemble a horizontal row as shown. Repeat to make a total of 3 rows.

    5. Using 5 Tonal Dots 1-1/2" x 9-1/2" sashing rectangles, and six 1-1/2" cornerstone squares, assemble a long sashing strip as shown. Repeat to make a total of 7 sashing strips.

    6. Sew together all horizontal rows and sashing strips, from Steps 3-5, as shown in the Quilt Assembly Diagram below. Press seams toward sashing strips.
